Bridge Bearing Analysis
Root-cause investigation and feasibility study for a bridge whose rubber bearings were failing decades ahead of schedule.
A bridge built in 2010 with a design lifespan of 100 years was already showing failing bearings, more than half of the rubber bearings had displaced significantly.
My work was to find the cause and propose a fix, by inspecting the current state of the structure and cross-referencing it with the archive data. Having identified the cause, I wrote a feasibility study setting out the possible solutions.
